About us

Sarah Henderson

My name is Sarah Henderson and I am the co-owner of Small Talk. I am a licensed speech-language pathologist dedicated to helping children build confidence, communication skills, and meaningful connections in their everyday lives.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The University of Texas at Austin before moving to Dallas to pursue my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of Texas at Dallas.

I began my career working in a private school setting, where I supported children with a wide range of speech, language, and social-emotional needs. I enjoy working one-on-one with students in individualized therapy sessions, as well as leading small groups focused on language and social skills. My experience pushing into the classroom has given me valuable expertise in implementing language and social intervention within natural learning environments.

I am passionate about helping children develop the skills they need to feel confident and successful across all environments. I believe it is important to build strong relationships with families, teachers, and other professionals to create individualized therapeutic approaches tailored to the child’s specific needs. My goal is to help children grow in confidence, communication, relationships, and everyday functional skills so they can thrive both in the classroom and in the world around them.

Outside of work, I love to travel, try new restaurants around Dallas, walk the Katy Trail, and play MahJong with friends.

Jillie Rubin

I’m Jillie Rubin, a licensed speech-language pathologist, and I am so excited to be a co-owner of Small Talk. I earned my undergraduate degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Health and Society from The University of Texas at Austin and my Master’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from The University of Texas at Dallas. I grew up in Dallas, and I am excited to be able to serve my community.

My experience includes working in a small private school serving children with special needs, where I supported language development throughout everyday classroom routines and activities. That experience strengthened my passion for collaborative, functional therapy that supports children across all environments.

I have experience providing early language intervention, individual speech and language therapy, and small social communication groups. I love helping children develop skills in ways that feel natural, engaging, and meaningful to them.

I’ve always enjoyed working with children, and I believe the best therapy happens when children feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to participate. My approach is child-led, play-based, and centered around each child’s unique strengths and interests. I enjoy collaborating closely with families, teachers, and other professionals to help children feel successful both in and outside of therapy sessions.

When I’m not working, I love playing MahJong, reading, traveling, and playing games with my fiancé!
